Not sure what to call this post...

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about this blog post for a little while now, and I'm still not sure how to put things. Here goes anyway...

If you've been following this blog for a while, you might know that health-wise things aren't always so great for me. (I have ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Fibromyalgia.)

Every year around this time, I tend to stumble upon something that I think is going to make a huge difference and make me feel a lot better. It's almost a springtime tradition now.

Over the past few years I've convinced myself that different medications, lifestyle changes and routines will help. Sometimes they do help for a little while, possibly partly down to some sort of placebo effect - I get so desperate to believe something will help, I manage to kid myself into thinking it has - right up to the point where it all comes crashing down around my ears.

This year, things are a bit different. The side effects of the increasingly complex cocktail of medicines I've been taking to try to control my symptoms have become too much. My ability to deal with the day to day realities of publishing is at rock bottom and, while I love writing as much as ever, the energy just isn't there.

The last four or five months have been tricky for me when it comes to working with so many different publishers/editors/proof-readers etc. This isn't because they aren't all lovely, they are, but each editor and publisher has a different personal style and house style, and this affects everything from the kind of grammar they favour, right up to if they think the entire emotional arch in a story sucks.

As the brain-fog side of my condition has increased, I’ve become less capable of remembering which publisher/editor likes things done what way. At the same time, as the levels of medication have increased, I’ve become less confident in my own judgement regarding what makes a story successful on an emotional level.

Last month, it all came to a head and I ended up coming off all my medications in pretty quick succession (not recommended). It was the only way I felt I’d be able to put out stories that I had any faith in. While there are downsides, I think it has helped me to see some things a bit more clearly—both inside and outside individual stories.

For a long time I've been saying that I need to move away from deadlines and decrease the number of projects I'm working on (but then someone asks me to do something, and I feel guilty about saying no, so I give in). But it's no longer a choice. If I want to keep writing (which I do!), I have to change things now.

So, publishing wise— over the last week I've bitten the bullet and contacted some of my publishers to withdraw quite a few of the books I’d had scheduled with them for release later this year. There are a few left pencilled in here and there—generally the shorter and least stressful to work on stories.

Which brings me on to the other half of the equation—Writing wise— there have been some difficult facts to face too.

Since the end of 2007, when I started writing seriously, I've written at least 1000 words a day, every day. It was my safety blanket. It was the one thing my lack of health couldn't take away from me. No matter what else I couldn't do - I always managed to do those words.

About two weeks ago, I admitted defeat and accepted that there are days when I can't do that anymore. I'll be honest— this scares the hell out of me. Accepting that I'm not well enough to write one day, opens the door to facing the same fact tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after.

Anyway…

Moving forward from here, I am going to keep writing— but I won't be able to put out the same number of words or stories that I have over the last few years. So, you might not see as many stories from me as I’d hoped you would, but there will be stories—even if I need to change the way I release them.

March Already!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick note for today, because I'm not quite up to the mark. (More on that topic when I can.)

This month, Temporary Mark will be coming out on pre-order (meaning you'll be able to buy it from the TEB website at a discount, and recieve it when it comes out on pre-release) and then on pre-release (meaning you'll be able to buy it at a lesser discount, and read it immediatly from the the TEB website) with Total-e-bound.

In the last month, I've submitted two other projects.

Better Than Sex is a Kinky Quickie coming out in May with Amber Allure.

The other one is still a secret. More on that when I can share.

The project I'm about to start work on is a series of extensions and re-writes on a previously completed series. This one should be... interesting. Not entirely sure if I'm looking forward to it or dreading it. Guess what? More on that when I can share too, lol.

Hello all :)

December and January haven't been the best months for me health-wise, work-wise or stree-wise, so I'm really glad that February is here. This year can only get better from here on in!

There are two books due to come out this month.

If you are so inclined, you can pre-order Once a Brat here. You'll be entered into a Riptide giveaway if you buy it before it is actually on pre-release on their website. Pre-release is, I believe, from Friday 8th of February.

There will also be a week long blog tour for Once a Brat starting on the day it goes on general release - which will be Monday 11th of February. More to come on that once the details are finalised, but if you do follow and comment, there's a chance to win backlist or forthcoming titles.

Vanilla Licks now has its own page and blurb here.

There's a guest blog post about Vanilla Licks and the whole Sun, Sea and Submission series due to come out around the middle of the month. Yep, there'll be more details on that once it's finalised too.

This month I'll be submitting two projects - a short-ish one to Amber Allure - which will be the start of a new series there. The second one is a secret project. Guess what - details coming when it's finalised, lol. There may be a third one going off in March as well, but I can't give out details of that either!

Sometimes publishers don't make it easy to blog, lol.

What else should I be remembering to say to you?

Nothing comes to mind. But I will give a shout out to Secret Service - it was one of my earliest book releases and it officially turns four this month.

Hi Everyone :)

I had such big plans for blogging this year. I intended to post at least once a week and at the start of the year I had a big announcement post all ready to go, with every book I'll be releasing this year all nicely laid out.

Then publishing happened. Don't get me wrong, I love writing, and I'm incredibly greatful to be published, but sometimes working with a couple of different publishers, each of whom has their own way of doing things, their own time scales, their own editorial procedures and everything else can be a bit like tap dancing on quick sand. Just when I think I've got it nailed, I start to sink, lol.

My oh so finalised publishing schedule has gone through some huge re-writes since I first drew it up. There are still gaps there, waiting to be filled when I have permission to talk about different projects. But I've been putting off my post about this year until "tomorrow" for twenty four days in a row. (Update: Things have changed again, lol, so I've given up and cut the schedule down to what's coming out in the next three months. Only February - April are listed there now, but I promise I do have other things coming out during the rest of the year!)

I do at least have two projects I can tell you all about though.

In 2012 I read...

Hi everyone,

For a long time after I started writing seriously I found that I didn't take any time out to read anything other than the stories I wrote. When I did pick up a book, it was almost always one I'd read before - a trusted old friend.

This year, one of my new years resolutions was to read at least 12 "new to me" books. Since I think I've started my last book for the year, I thought I'd share a bit about the books.

Three were true stories...

These were all a bit dry for me - probably because I'm not used to true story books. I learned something from each of them, but none of them made it onto a keeper shelf.

The second category will all have a forever place on my shelves. I've been catching up on my Terry Pratchett books.

My favourite was Nation - amazing young adult book, thoroughly recommended.

Since forever, there have been two Jane Austen books left on my to read list that I'd never got around to reading.

Emma was my favourite. Mr Knightly makes Mr Darcy look like a drama queen :) I also decided that it was about time for me to get to grips with another kind of classic.

My favourite was Mr Benson - John Preston is one of my new favourite people ever. I've been on a buying binge with his books ever since, but I'm pacing myself with reading them because he's not going to write anymore :(

Both rocked soooooo much. I stumbled on another new favourite author.

I know a little bit about the milder end of the OCD spectrum and she hit it spot on. I've got her second book on my to read list, but I'm a bit scared to read it, just in case it's not as good.

I've really enjoyed getting back into reading. I even bought an almost-nude to celebrate. (Haven't thought up an excuse for the others in my collection yet.)

Oh Come All Ye Kinky - And December

Hello everyone,

I feel like I should ask for a drum roll, not just because I have a new release, but because I am actually doing my month post on the first of the month.

One thing that somewhat dampens the "yay!" moment - pretty much the only thing I have going on in December is happening today. So I don't have that much to report, even if I am reporting it on the right day, lol.

On the other hand, what's happening today is really cool - and I have a few other bits of longer term news as well. Here we go...

Oh, Come All Ye Kinky is available today from Riptide Publishing. It's my first release with this publisher, so it's pretty exciting for me.

My story is MM, BDSM, erotic romance with a new year's theme. It's called His Very Last Chance.

If you've pre-ordered it, it's there now. If you haven't, feel free to buy it :) 20% of the proceeds are going to a great cause.

In other news...

I've submitted Once a Brat - the third part of the I Blame Bret collection (or should that be the first part, since it's a prequel?) to Riptide publishing.

This one was fun to write. Bret makes me smile.

Writing wise, I'm just coming to the end of the first draft of a story I'm writing for Total-e-bound. It's MM, BDSM, Contemporary. It's also the third story in the Collared series.

You'd be forgiven for thinking this series would never be continued, because it's been forever since I published any part of it. But, I am happy to report that all that will change next April.

I've also pencilled in the fourth installment with TEB, an MF BDSM for October.

The first two stories - Turquoise and Leather and Imperial Topaz are behind the links, if you want to take a peek.

On a similar note, I've also pencilled in another story with TEB for 2013. The first part of a new MM BDSM vampire series will come out with them in July.

My next first draft will be for a new project I've just agreed to take part in. This one is hush-hush, but it does mean I've got another release date pencilled in for 2013 - this time in May.

(Considering I promised myself not to pencil in anything after the end of 2012, I'm doing pretty good so far, right?)

It's MM, BDSM and the final installment in the Sex Sells series. It will make more sense if you've read the other stories in the series first.

It's taken quite a while for this series to be completed.Sealing the Deal was actually the first story I ever sent to Resplendence, way back in the mists of time, so I'm really chuffed to see it put to bed, as it were.

Middle-ish of November...

Hello everyone,

This was supposed to be a start of November post. I am so behind, both in terms of blogging and everything else, it's more than a little bit ridicilous.

I'm trying out a new system which I hope will get me back on track and out of the doldrums that I've been stuck in for most of this year.

Anyway, I now have a little bit of everything to report, so here goes...

Learning the Ropes is now finalised and expected to come out next Wednesday as scheduled. You can find the blurb by clicking on the cover below....

As you may remember, I have a story coming out in a Riptide anthology. I have a cover to share. If you click on it, you can go to the publishers website, read about all the stories that are included, read excerpts and even pre-order it!

Vanilla Licks has a cover now. It also has a new release date on February 13th 2013 (The change was requested by me, not the publisher.)

And, last but not least. I have just signed a contract with Riptide for another story!

Once a Brat is a prequal to the two I Blame Bret stories previously published by All Romance E-books as their Perfect Strangers series.

If you've ever wondered how Bret and Marcus got together, you'll have a chance to find out on February 11th 2013! If you've never heard of Marcus and Bret you can find out about them in the two books below.

Pushing the Envelope

Hello everyone,

I never did get around to a proper start of the month post, so it's probably best to stay tuned for random updates as and when they're posted, lol.

The big news of the day is that the entire Pushing the Envelope series is now available from Amber Allure.

Based on number of titles, it's the longest series I've written to date. It's also one that needs to be read in order, if you want it to make any kind of sense.

Also, rumour has it that the entire series will be available in one print volume very soon.
